ayisha jaffer pic (2)With only five weeks out to this year’s event, Face The Music is excited to announce the addition of five new international guests to the already immense program. From Lorde’s management team, Ayisha Jaffer of Saiko Management, along with Marshall Betts of the esteemed Windish Agency and Adam Lewis of Planetary Group. In collaboration with Melbourne Music Week, Face The Music also brings you two very special In Conversation sessions with legendary Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance and front man of Tangerine Dream, Edgar Froese (in collaboration with Goethe-Institut).

Management, booking, label promotions and talent buying – Ayisha Jaffer has worn many hats in the music world. She has worked at international companies such as Universal Music, The Windish Agency, Punkdafunk Management and before joining Saiko Management where she works with Grammy Award winning break through artist Lorde. Jaffer has worked with a variety of artists in various genres on innovative ways to showcase their artistry in order to progress to the next level and will bring her wealth of artist management knowledge and passion for expanding the relationship between Australia and New Zealand music scene to Face The Music.

Representing and booking artists in venues and festivals all over the world, Marshall Betts of the Windish Agency has been in the Music Industry for over 10 years. He started his career as an assistant manager to Guided By Voices, Yoko Ono and Tift Merrit among others. After his stint in management, he began his career on the agent side of the world and enjoyed various roles at some of the largest agencies in the world including CAA, and APA before joining the Windish Agency where he represents artists including Courtney Barnett, Veruca Salt, White Lung and Cibo Matto.

Also joining the line up from the US is Adam Lewis, founder of the Planetary Group, who helps new and upcoming artists get heard and discovered through radio and blog exposure in the US and Canada. Working with the likes of The Preatures, The Decemberists, Bloc Party, Apples In Stereo, Kings Of Leon, and Portugal, The Man, Lewis joins Face The Music to give an insight into breaking into international market places and international music promotion.

‘MMW presents In Conversation with Underground Resistance’ sees fiercely independent creators of grubby, four-track techno, Underground Resistance talk about growing up in Detroit, providing a rare insight into the driving force behind the birthplace of techno, as well as their hunger for social and political change worldwide.

German electronic pioneer and Tangerine Dream member Edgar Froese, appears for an intimate conversation exploring his career as a compositional hypnotist and embarks on an exclusive tour of the Tangerine Dream creative vaults. Froese sheds light on Tangerine Dream’s approach to composition and technical production, as well as exploring the rich history of this seminal, genre-defying band.
