Flying Nun Records

Ben Howe was in mid ‘90s Auckland Flying Nun band Superette. In 1999 he established Arch Hill Recordings, signing local icons David Kilgour, Don McGlashan, The Clean, The Bats, Bailter Space and new artists Doprah, Street Chant, Surf City and Ghost Wave. 

Ben joined iconic New Zealand label Flying Nun Records as managing director in 2012 when it was bought back from Warner Music. Flying Nun recently reissued vinyl from the 1980s catalogue including albums from The Clean, The Chills and The Bats, signed new artists Tiny Ruins, Lawrence Arabia and Aldous Harding, and established a New York office with Brooklyn label Captured Tracks. 

In 2013 Ben set up Flying Out Music (with Matthew Davis), an online and physical record store and a distribution and general music services company. A former partner in the NZ arm of Laneway Festival, he established Auckland’s The Others Way Festival and co-owns Aeroplane Music Services and Arch Hill Music Publishing.
