CEO, Music Australia
Chris Bowen is the CEO of Music Australia, a 50-member national peak body representing all aspects of music. Activities span education, community and the professional industry and include advocacy, news and information, sector engagement and a national school music program. Chris is currently leading an industry-wide partnership to develop a National Music Business Development Plan for contemporary music.
Chris divides his time between Music Australia‘s Sydney office and his Brisbane base, where he has previously been the director of Dance and Music at Arts Queensland and the general manager of two arts centres, The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts and Brisbane Powerhouse. He was also the head of cultural policy at Brisbane City Council and director of the Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre, where he gained a lifelong passion for world music.
