Martin Atkins
Label Owner, Entrepreneur & Author, USA

Renowned US label owner, entrepreneur, artist and educator Martin Atkins has drawn on his three decades of music business experience to help artists striving to succeed on their own terms in a challenging music industry.

Martin was a member of Public Image Ltd and Killing Joke, founded industrial supergroup Pigface and has worked with Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. He set up Chicago’s Mattress Factory Studios and Invisible Records, which has released over 350 albums.

Mojo Magazine called his influential 2007 book Tour:Smart and Break the Band the “ultimate touring manual – it  tackles every conceivable aspect of getting the show on the road in a highly readable style”. His new book Band:Smart has just been crowdfunded through Kickstarter and will be published in 2013.

Martin teaches at Madison Media Institute, is a syndicated blogger and a sort-after guest speaker for conferences and universities, including SXSW, Warped Tour, CMJ and New Music Seminar.

Martin has a unique perspective not only on where the music industry is currently, but where it is going in the future.
