Melbourne International Jazz Festival

As Program Director, Melanie curates and produces the annual Melbourne International Jazz Festival (MIJF) program consisting of 120 events staged over 10 days in more than 20 venues around Melbourne. The festival attracts over 40,000 people annually and is recognised as the largest and most significant jazz festival in the region. Melanie has worked with international artists such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Sonny Rollins and presented the Australian premiere performances of many jazz artists including Esperanza Spalding, Robert Glasper and Snarky Puppy.

Melanie has been a central figure in steering the festival in new directions; increasing the scope and diversity of programming and attracting new younger audiences to jazz. Melanie has also been a key figure in establishing an international exchange program with Tokyo and Singapore Jazz Festivals and attends festivals and events the world over promoting the Australian jazz scene.
