Mikelangelo has received rave reviews and awards nationally and internationally, appearing at many major music and arts festivals including Sziget Festival (Hungary), the Melbourne International Festival, Mona Foma, the Sydney Opera House concert hall and The Famous Spiegeltent at the Edinburgh Festival (UK).
2013 has been a good year for his band Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen, who were funded by International Pathways for a four week tour of the UK in May including shows at the Aussie BBQ in London, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and Brighton Festival. The group were funded through Playing Australia for an extensive tour of WA and NT that just wrapped up at the end of September. The band also received funding from Film NSW towards a TV pilot for a Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen TV series working with best selling writer Elliot Perlman.
Always ready to launch a new project, Mikelangelo is recording a collaborative album with Loki Lockwood at Headgap studios working with a list of his favourite Melbourne bands and musicians, including Graveyard Train, Cash Savage, Fraser A Gorman, Miles Brown, Charles Jenkins, The Tiger and Me, The Rechords and many more. The album is a collection of songs about Melbourne and the recording has been funded through Arts Victoria.
