MoMO is an Australian music producer, songwriter and vocalist. MoMO, born in the Comoros Islands, formed Australia’s most exciting and original hip-hop outfits Diafrix in 2001, and has since spawned his talents to concurrently specialize in producing a diverse range of pop, hip-hop, R&B and dance music.
Since 2011, Diafrix has performed at Glastonbury and alongside Bruno Mars and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. In more recent times, MoMo has been cultivating his enthusiasm for music production, creating and developing music for artists on The Voice (Lakyn Heperi, Fatai), Australian Idol (Moodie) and X Factor (Catalina Torres). In 2014, MoMO also produced a single that was proposed as a contending theme song for AFL Grand Final (Steven Motlop).
It was MoMO’s critically acclaimed and Deadly Award-winning (2013 hip hop artist of the Year) work on the Young Warriors album Standing Strong that has given MoMO recognition as one of Australia’s most inspirational music minds.
MoMO attributes his preference for producing a diverse range of genres to his long-standing appreciation of an eclectic mix of artists, different styles and eras. This foundation, in combination with his determination and musical intelligence, imbues the artists he works alongside, with confidence that MoMO will deliver forward thinking, unique and high quality music that lands them where they want to be.
Momo appears on the Face The Music 2014 program.
