Festival Director & Company Director, WalkerAbercombie
As a practicing Festival Director, Ros is committed to the concepts of collaboration as vital to building festivals and events, and believes that they need to be innovative, accessible and founded in a practice that is multidisciplinary and participatory. In much of her work, her programs bring together emerging, established and community artists to stimulate dialogue and challenge audiences in accessible public environments.
A keen facilitator of knowledge Ros currently lectures at Melbourne University. Her projects currently include Program Director for New Year’s Eve Melbourne and Moomba Festival. She recently worked as the Artistic Director for On the Map, a Golden Plains community engagement project with Festivals Australia and Regional Arts Victoria. Prior to this, she completed a three-year contract in Hobart successfully directing and delivering the annual Taste Festival – Tasmania’s premier summer event. Other previous positions have included Festival Director for Mudfest10 – Melbourne University Diversity Festival, and the direction and delivery of three Moonee Valley Festivals (2005, 06 & 07).
Ros’s qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma Business in Event Management, BA Hons Social Anthropology and relevant industry certificates. Ros is currently completing a Masters of Applied Anthropology.
